Autoevaluación (Self-Evaluation)

¡Hola y bienvenido a mi página web!

It is the end of the first semester and this is my final post for this semester.

En general, espero mejorar mi español y saber más sobre mis compañeros y mi profesor de mi clase. Este es mi objetivo.

I have learned more than I expected in this course. I hoped to improve my Spanish speaking abilities and I definitely have. I have also learned more about Spanish culture in general. I prepared effectively for most classes by completing all the Connect assignments. I read most lessons before arriving to class and spoke to my professor before and sometimes after class (which I consider office hours). I went to office hours whenever I received my exams back or acción assignments and would ask questions about my mistakes to my professor.

The exams for this class were fair. I do think I am a slow test-taker in general and took longer than most people especially on the writing portion. In general, the exams were fair. I do sometimes study more for vocabularly and there isn't as much vocabulary on the exam. Sometimes, I study a lot of grammar and there isn't as much grammar as I had expected.

I think the compositions were useful to understanding Spanish grammar and the last composition was challenging because we had to be creative. I think it was useful to practice the vocabulary and grammar we learned.

The connect assignments helped me review for the lesson and for the acción assignments. It was very easy to do because it was graded for completion so there was a lot less stress. The connect assignments online had technical problems sometimes which could have been stressful if it weren't graded for completion. I think the acción assignments were very stressful because it was timed and graded. It may have been more helpful if it wasn't timed or were graded by a different rubric.

Overall, my Spanish has improved much more than I expected especially in terms of grammar, speaking and listening. Having to speak in Spanish was very helpful and listening to my classmates and professor speak in Spanish helped me improve my own skills. The in-class oral presentations were fun. I enjoyed discussing my topic and hearing my classmates' presentations. I became friends with many of them. I think what I could have done better is find other channels or attend events that could help me actively speak and practice Spanish - I could have joined a tutoring organizaiton, attended more Spanish language tables, or practice speaking with my Spanish-speaking friends.
